Our dear friend Lolo from Sweat Records was one of the first people to see something in us. We are not sure exactly what it was, but in the beginning stages of trying to figure out who we were, she played an important role in shaping a path for us to follow. If memory serves us well, it all began with us crashing a Nylon Magazine showcase at Sweat. We weren’t by any means supposed to perform but somehow convinced Lolo to let us play two songs with everyone else’s gear which led to us making our first national publication.
Soon after that performance, we participated in Sweatstock. The record store’s all day music festival/block party celebrating RSD, local talent and the community. Sweatstock 2012 has to be one of the funnest times we’ve had playing. At one point we encouraged the crowd to get on stage for our last song. That was cray!
The same year, Lolo, along with her managing partner Emile, approached us to put out our first ever 45 under house label, Sutro. This was and forever will be our first physical release. They popped our vinyl cherry. They pushed us to have merch and gave us the tools to make them. We spent nights at Sweat just making buttons with their machine. They printed our first official shirts, which are still popular today. We started becoming part of something special based on trust and dedication to help each other out. A true friendship.
We wouldn’t be who we are today if it wasn’t for Lolo’s encouragement and support during the early years of the band. She truly made us switch our focus and gave us an insight on what it takes to run a successful band. We are forever in debt to Lolo, Emile and the Sweat Records family for opening their doors to two dudes who like to play loud rock n roll.
We love you guys, always!
